Kingfisher pension scheme wins two awards for Automatic Enrolment
The Kingfisher Pension Scheme has won the Best Internal Communications Award at the Financial Services Forum Marketing Excellence awards, for its programme informing colleagues about their options under the new Automatic Enrolment rules. Entitled 'The Nuts and Bolts of Automatic Enrolment' the programme reached 35,000 colleagues across B&Q, Screwfix, Kingfisher, KITS (Kingfisher IT Services) and Kingfisher Future Homes. The Scheme was also singled out for special recognition with the Judges' Award for Consumer Insight, over and above all other award category submissions.
B&Q's Programme Management Office wins coveted award
B&Q has been named Project Management Company of the Year in the Association for Project Management (APM) Project Management Awards 2013. B&Q is one of only a handful of retailers with a dedicated Programme Management Office (PMO), and is the first retailer to have won an APM award. In the 18 months that B&Q's PMO has been established it has articulated the need for a PMO, sold the vision, designed and recruited a team and achieved significant and quantifiable benefits in terms of cost, flexibility, project success and overall planning and decision-making.
Kingfisher recognised with Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Standard-Setter award
We have been recognised by the Rainforest Alliance as a 'Sustainable Standard-Setter' for our work on timber. The award recognises businesses and individuals whose commitment to furthering sustainability is demonstrated by their public support for conservation and outstanding leadership in efforts to improve the environment and support local communities.
B&Q wins carbon award at Guardian Sustainable Business Awards 2013
B&Q's efforts to cut its carbon footprint have netted it a Guardian Sustainable Business Award. It has reduced its absolute CO2 emissions by 220,000 tonnes since 2006, a reduction of 29%.
Commercial Recycling Champion award won by B&Q
Sharon Parsons, UK Waste Manager at B&Q has been named National Recycling Champion for her work in reducing wastage and increasing recycling from across the business. Vicky Hughes of Hadfield Wood Recyclers and BBC presenter Susanna Reid presented the letsrecycle.com Awards for Excellence in Recycling & Waste Management, which is now in its 10th year, to Sharon in front of leaders from across the industry.
